The Mandalorian: Chapter 3

The Mandalorian: Chapter 3 – “The Sin” Review

Since we know The Mandalorian is on once a week, it is a long week to find out what happens in the next chapter of the series. In The Mandalorian: Chapter 3, entitled “The Sin”, Manda returns to retrieve the payment and deliver the child. We, literally, pick up from the final moments of the last episode with Mando in the cockpit of his newly restored ship making contact with Greef (Carl Weathers).

Of course, the cutest part of that scene is watching Baby Yoda playing with the ball from the lever. The next series of clips show Baby Yoda on its way to being hand over to the Client. There are some elements of that character that seem CG but also basic puppetry. The realistic eye moment and reactions to its surroundings. The look of worry that creeps in and the fluttering ears from the environment. How can you not love the thing?

The Mandalorian: Chapter 3
Dude, he is so cute.

Finally, we get a brief glimpse into Manda’s thought process, which is an achievement given that we don’t see his face at all. The flashbacks to, what he realize, is the Empire killing his people. The internal and external conflict of working for a regime that caused the “Great Purge” of their people. We knew this was going in that direction, at least, I did a long time ago. However, seeing him go all John Wick on the Stormtroopers and bounty hunters was awesome.

Obviously, The Mandalorian: Chapter 3 managed to set up the remainder of the series. Who is The Client (Werner Herzog) and who is he working for. Also, what is the deal with Dr. Pershing (Omid Abtahi) and is he a true scientist that doesn’t want to harm Baby Yoda.

The Mandalorian: Chapter 3

The Mandalorian: Chapter 3 allowed us to have some great character development and some awesome action, especially when the calvary arrives. Completely unexpected, but a great touch. Although, it seemed that the Manda getting that salute seemed like a homage to Jon Favreau’s run on Iron Man to me. However, since there was that nod to Last Crusade in last week’s episode, I’m sure that was planned. Now, I hate that there are seven days until next week’s episode.
