Star Wars Skywalker Saga Box Set Coming in 2020

As Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker hit theaters to mixed reviews, one thing that did make some waves online was the announcement that a Star Wars Skywalker Saga box set was leaked on the Best Buy Canadian website. One thing that makes this thing truly massive is that it’s being promoted as a 27-disc set. 27-disc set?!

Now, some people online are overlooking one big fact: it is a 4K Ultra HD and Blu-ray combo set. Certain sites are wondering just how it could be 27-discs. Of course, to create fan theories, they are touting that it could have original and modified versions – which is just plain silly.  When you look at the screenshot of the Best Buy ad, it claims to be a combo bundle.

Now, there are nine movies and two of each would make it eighteen easily. Yes, that leaves nine discs. However, if you use the three bonus discs from the previous Star Wars collection, you would have six left. Take an additional disc for each new trilogy bonus disc – that would leave three left. And to think I used to suck at word problems. That would leave three disc left, which I am sure they would have previously unreleased material on it.

Star Wars Skywalker Saga box set is set to retail (in Canada) for $329. That would mean it could retail in the United States for about $300. Canadian prices are usually more simply because tax is already included in the price. However, their release date is set for March 31, 2020. Also, that goes on the assumption that you haven’t spent major bucks on the previous Star Wars editions on DVD or Blu-ray.

It is unclear just how many people will purchase this new set. Star Wars Skywalker Saga box set would have to have a lot of things new included in order for many people to pick it up. Or, the people that waited for a complete set to come out will now have their reason. For me, I will simply joy watching the whole saga on Disney+. Unless there is some bonus stuff that I will not be able to live without.
