With the completion of “The Infinity Saga”, many of the established super hero movies have been up in the air with sequel dates. When Phase Four was announced, there was no mention of Black Panther 2, Captain Marvel 2, and even a Spider-Man 3. However, some sequels are being announced after the fact. Like we know that Captain Marvel 2 is coming.
The Hollywood Reporter is reporting, much to social justice warriors dismay, actually has a release year: 2022. This shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone, as the film raked in over $1 billion dollars in its release fell between Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame.
Megan McDonnell has been selected to write the script. She was originally a staff writer for the upcoming Disney+ series, WandaVision. It has been teased that the ripples of that series will be felt throughout the next slate of movies. As for the original directors, Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck won’t be returning for the sequel, which isn’t that uncommon. However, it is reported that they will stay in the MCU.
It is said that Marvel is looking for a woman to helm the new film. Also, if you see another writer take over duties, don’t be surprised. The original movie had a total of six writers that received actual credit. There may have been more that helped it along.
While the original film had taken place in the 90’s, it has been announced that Captain Marvel 2 will be taking place in a post-Endgame world, which makes sense. While social justice warriors have been asking Bree Larson to step down to let a lesbian woman of color take over the role, that doesn’t seem to be happening.
